Modern medicine owes much of its credibility to asepsis and corrective surgical expertise. The scope of surgery has vastly expanded during recent years. Undergraduates are expected to diagnose surgical conditions and refer patients to surgical units at appropriate time. Keeping these objectives in mind it has been tried to briefly synthesize the vast expanse of surgery in this small treatise “Hand Book of Surgery”. Much emphasis has been put on basic skills like clinical examination and investigations for a correct diagnosis. Operating techniques have been deliberately deleted. Out come and prognosis find due mention. The book will be of immense help to undergraduate medical students, students of nursing and physiotherapy and allied health professionals.
